A Little Bit of Nerdmas Magic

I know it has been a while, crazy crazy year (seriously)

Inspired by the fact a friend bought me some Nerdy Christmas Ornaments the urge to create something purely for the Joy of the season and for me.

And  if I am totally honest because I have not seen one anywhere else before (I mean it may exist really I did do a google image search and search pintrest there is the Actual Tardis police box shape and all but you will see what I mean)

Soo I have recently unpacked my box of Off the Page Projects of which (I am a bit of a collector especially of the Kaiser MDF things, mini albums and such are fantastic quick and simple gifts in a time crunch)

I stumbled across a Santa Sleigh, technically this was supposed to be for me to do a Santa Bear, bu ut my Nerdmas ornaments were about to be delivered and I had no tree thus an idea was born.

Sooo I prepped the MDF sleigh with a couple of coats of Prima Heavy Body Gesso

Added over with Liquitex basics Primary Blue which turned out super patchy and I was trying to get the colour more tardis’y

soo then I added a bit of white to a ceramcoat blue I have hear and two coats later all splotchyness was gone.

After that I tried to add in the white squares without much success sooo I die cut them out of white cardstock and then painted overthem in ceramcoat white

added in some Police Public call box ribbon and did the fiddly adding of the gold braid to the edges

Think You will agree for a whim that I had no Idea how to accomplish am pretty stoked with the results.
This will certainly be making an Annual Appearance at my House that is for sure.

Not sure who will be pulling the Sleigh Next year as I really am hoping to have my act together and ornaments made for my Nerdmas Tree next year.

Game of Thrones Themed Gift

got set

For any Nerdy Crafter’s out there you know how hard finding Nerdy Craft stuff can be, sure Viva Las Vegas Has a Dr Who sheet of Rubber, and superman and wonder woman stamps

Paper smooches and a few of the stamp/die companies have a few dies

and spoonflower is a god send for fabric but it would be nice to see a wider range of nerdy stuff (and not with the price astronomically bumped up)

anyway

This Ornament and stocking are made from Spoonflower fabric and the Card features a Sweet Pea Stamp.

I am really happy with how this Set turned out, in part due to the colouring of the stamp to Look Like Sansa Stark (and yes I am aware she does not have a scar along one eye)

So I am going to be playing a lot of catch up before the new year begins sorry for the blog spam if you get the emails 🙂

Hugs and Merry Christmas

Two Different Wedding Sets Based on the Placecards

I can’t resist sharing these two sets with you all. They are based on the two placecards my friend liked the most.

I did go a little overboard and created a wedding program cover, favour box, thank you card and of course the place cards. Whilst they were not chosen or needed for this wedding I had fun stretching my talents and trying something new. Bear in mind these are not perfect just rough mock ups (so there are a few spots of ink and such that would have been re done for a finished polished product as such)

So here are the two sets (one has two different versions of the same box which is a small noodle style box though any box could be done as easily)

A little Tattered Inspirations

I am so lucky to be on the guest DT for Tattered Inspirations. Every parcel you receive from Carol’s etsy store is like getting an amazing gift no matter how small your order is. It is packaged with a lot of love and care.

I was so happy to have two kits to work with a blossoms and a valentines kit. Here is what I got including the extras and wrapping:
(pic to come)
The first thing in my mind that I wanted to try was Claudine Helmouths techniques with Multi Medium and transfering images onto fabric.
I love how the images turned out and the addition of the burnt edges gave them a more romantic old world charm.

Inspired by Donna Salazar’s work with Corrugated cardboard and my love of recycling I turned a box flap into an album. (you paint one side of the flap with water let it seep in and peel back to reveal some or all of the corrugated card underneath), I painted it white and then used matt multi medium and glittered each piece before sticking the flat sides together.

Then it was just a matter of choosing quotes and assembling my wee album with some jump rings. I then pulled out my score board and made a lovely red box for the Album to sit in and viola a valentines day gift of a lovely romantic sort for someone very special (it could easily with the changing of a few quotes make a lovely mothers day gift or friendship gift.)

So here are the pics

A little bit of Girlie Grunge Fairy Magic

This months challenge over at Girlie Grunge (see my sidebar for the link) is to create a gift using Donna Salazar Products.

As my blog readers know I recently purchased the Rose and Carnation Creation dies. I have been playing with making flowers from different types of papers and the Comb I created won not only Artist of the Month on the Girlie Grunge site but also the August Colour Challenge on Jelly Bean Scrappers for which it was created. Rather exciting stuff.

Anyway I bought a wand from our local and rather awesome cheapie shop called Jolly Ollies (they often have a lot of crafty things that are really good quality at very low prices) so I got the plain wooden wand.

I painted it with a combination of paint dabbers, used some impasto over a glimmer screen to create the raised bits. Used some glossy accents over them and sprinkled on the glitter and Made the rose in the center with The Rose Creations Dies and some plain brown paper. Which I again used the paint dabbers on (2 shades of pinks and a smidge of white) before dabbing on a little glue and glittering the flower (I did the same thing for all the flowers in the circlet)

Next I used some ribbon and criss crossed it down the handle of the wand like ballet slippers (how cute would this be for a flower girl) and misted some tulle with Smooch Spritz in Pralines and Cream. Tore it into strips and knotted it around the wand.

To make the circlet I started with some beading wire plated together and then formed into a circle. Built up layers of tulle (also misted with pralines and cream smooch spritz). Wrapping them around to build up a base for the flowers to be attatched to and also to create a little bit of hanging detail at the back. The wrapped around some pearl trim, and ribbon. Attatched the flowers by adding wire to the back of the brads and twisting it around the circlet. The butterflies were created with brown paper and wire (make circles all the same size, attatch two together and cover in brown paper till you have built up around 4-6 layers, let dry then cut around the edges of the wire, paint and glitter) and viola a very sweet gift for one very lucky little girl 🙂

So here it is :

A bit of Shabby Chic

Recently I participated in Two swaps (though was lucky enough to get the same partner for both which was a great blessing to my budget),

The theme for both was Shabby Chic, one was a card box filled with 5 cards in set themes. The other was a box swap (I tried everywhere to find a box the right size but just could not find one so I added in another small box and a small tag album to make up for the size as well as a few extra goodies for my swap partner)

So now that they have arrived I can share the pics with you all.

Here is the card box and cards:

and here is the two boxes and matching mini Tag Album

I of course had to gold leaf a little, and one of the cards is also on Jellybean Scrappers for a monthly Inspiration Challenge.

Layouts from ‘the Vault’ Part 2

You know it is great fun looking back through my photobucket and seeing some of the stuff I have created. Think I will have to do this at a later date for my bears. So here are some more layouts to share with you all.

This first layout is my eldest nice, the photos were ones I took just mucking around. Not everyones taste but I have always loved this as its so different and simple and for me at least it has impact.
Shaylyn

For me this was not only a very special moment but a very structured layout with quite a lot on the page. I tend to favour very clean simple looking layouts, well I call them deceptively simple because often they have a lot of hidden work in them it is just not always obvious until you break the page down. This page was done about 4 years ago

Amanda Bear

This is a layout I created as a challenge when I was guest DT for Artistic Document.  What I love about this layout is the fact that I threw caution to the wind and tore up a photograph, It remains one of my favs not just because it is a great shot of me. But because it is also so different.

Follow Your Bliss, created as My August Challenge for Guest DT spot at Artist Document

This next layout was also for my Guest DT spot at Artistic Document the theme of the Cyber Crop at the time Was Reuse Repurpose and recycle

This layout has a wax cheese wrapper melted and stamped into then pear ex’d over. And recyced butchers paper the kind that always comes wrapped around anything you buy from the Deli

cc challenge lo

This layout is one where I used Basic Grey Two scoops stamps and made my own background I really love this Page as it is so busy and yet still has a simpleness about it.

Trying not to overload each post with to many pics so off to start part 3 🙂 Thanks for sharing this journey into my scrapbooking Vault With me.

A Very Special Bear

Today I am such a proud Aunty. My eldest niece turned 16 today. Happy Birthday Beautiful Girl. As she already has her gift from me I can share it with you all. I am so happy with how her present turned out. This is the first OOaK signature bear I have made. Not only did I make the bear from one of my own unique patterns I also made the pendant from memory glass.  The bear is as yet unnamed so for now meet ‘Sweetie’
