Tesla Inspired Wall Art

another prima wooden box

This was created for a friend’s Husband.

I absolutely love the wooden boxes Prima put some of their accessories in now they are fantastic to recycled into these little art pieces.

I covered this one in Tissue tape, then Matt Multi Medium followed by some Alcohol ink. I think you will agree it comes up a treat.

Then it was a matter of playing around and choosing bits to see what would go where and then sticking it all down.

Of course most of this is Idea – ology with a few watch parts and other random bits thrown in,

I really love how these turn out just wish I had more of the little wooden trays.

Take Flight

This is my other entry for the art competition ‘Take Flight’

Utalising mostly Tim Holtz and ranger products

The background was done using layered distress stains and Tim’s famous spritz and flick technique. Sealed with Claudine Hellmouths Multi Medium and the butterflies are cut from Tim’s movers and shapers butterflies.

Along with some drops of triple thick to replicate rain and an American Crafts Metallic marker for the center of the butterflies.

A little Tattered Inspirations

I am so lucky to be on the guest DT for Tattered Inspirations. Every parcel you receive from Carol’s etsy store is like getting an amazing gift no matter how small your order is. It is packaged with a lot of love and care.

I was so happy to have two kits to work with a blossoms and a valentines kit. Here is what I got including the extras and wrapping:
(pic to come)
The first thing in my mind that I wanted to try was Claudine Helmouths techniques with Multi Medium and transfering images onto fabric.
I love how the images turned out and the addition of the burnt edges gave them a more romantic old world charm.

Inspired by Donna Salazar’s work with Corrugated cardboard and my love of recycling I turned a box flap into an album. (you paint one side of the flap with water let it seep in and peel back to reveal some or all of the corrugated card underneath), I painted it white and then used matt multi medium and glittered each piece before sticking the flat sides together.

Then it was just a matter of choosing quotes and assembling my wee album with some jump rings. I then pulled out my score board and made a lovely red box for the Album to sit in and viola a valentines day gift of a lovely romantic sort for someone very special (it could easily with the changing of a few quotes make a lovely mothers day gift or friendship gift.)

So here are the pics

Hearts and Flowers

So here it is Mr Holtz has presented us with a brand new challenge. Instead of the 12 tags of Christmas (Which in a way I kinda hope he will still do in addition to the monthly tags yes I know I am greedy) we now have the 12 tags of the Year. This begins with the season of Love.

Now I thought about this for a while, a friend said she was going to do a mini album so that nixed that idea, lots of people do cards again nixed that Idea. So I have decided to do Coasters. Now I do have a plan for these but want to leave it a bit before I share what I will be doing with said coasters. After all with 3d elements they will definitely not be for drinks!

For this coaster I used Tim’s Love Stamp, his script one. Stamped onto tissue paper and layered ( I used the Paint Dabbers in Raspberry and pale pink for this and also used them directly onto the stamps). Them over the coaster that I first painted in snow cap.

Once I had done this I used a Cuttlebug Die of Nested Hearts to cut out some cs for the centre heart.

The centre heart is not an even heart. I glued them together onto a chipboard base also cut from the Die. It took a bit of practice to know which way to fold the hearts but once I got it, it was small side to small side and larger side to larger side. Glued them together to make a concertina effect.

Misted with Smooch Spritz Cherry, hand painted each section with Multi Medium, before sprinkling with Red Laser glitter from Stuff by David.

The Flower is made with hand dyed Tattered Inspirations Seam Binding.  This I stitched the bottom of and gathered it to form the flower, then ran the stitches through the bottom. Lastly adding a small Kaiser Rhinestone to the centre.

Winsor & Newton watercolours form the stem and leaves. These were then painted over with Renoir Iridescence Medium, and then traced around with a felt tip pen.

The small hearts are actually foil confetti that I had in my stash. I was not happy with how they looked so I used some more Multi Medium to coat them in the Red glitter then added a little glossy accent

Gold Leaf completes the edges and that is it Viola a Hearts and Flowers Coaster. So here it is:
