This really is a combo of Days 3 and 4 kind of melding two Card Scene tecnhiques into one

I used a Stencil, Viva Las Vegas Stamps, Brusho’s and Royal and Langnickel Tubes and also Canson Watercolour paper which I totally love for brusho, I know this is far from perfect yest I could have added more light and shadow to the buildings but I kind of wanted this a bit like a movie set rather than the real deal so to speak

A Little Bit of Nerdmas Magic

I know it has been a while, crazy crazy year (seriously)

Inspired by the fact a friend bought me some Nerdy Christmas Ornaments the urge to create something purely for the Joy of the season and for me.

And  if I am totally honest because I have not seen one anywhere else before (I mean it may exist really I did do a google image search and search pintrest there is the Actual Tardis police box shape and all but you will see what I mean)

Soo I have recently unpacked my box of Off the Page Projects of which (I am a bit of a collector especially of the Kaiser MDF things, mini albums and such are fantastic quick and simple gifts in a time crunch)

I stumbled across a Santa Sleigh, technically this was supposed to be for me to do a Santa Bear, bu ut my Nerdmas ornaments were about to be delivered and I had no tree thus an idea was born.

Sooo I prepped the MDF sleigh with a couple of coats of Prima Heavy Body Gesso

Added over with Liquitex basics Primary Blue which turned out super patchy and I was trying to get the colour more tardis’y

soo then I added a bit of white to a ceramcoat blue I have hear and two coats later all splotchyness was gone.

After that I tried to add in the white squares without much success sooo I die cut them out of white cardstock and then painted overthem in ceramcoat white

added in some Police Public call box ribbon and did the fiddly adding of the gold braid to the edges

Think You will agree for a whim that I had no Idea how to accomplish am pretty stoked with the results.
This will certainly be making an Annual Appearance at my House that is for sure.

Not sure who will be pulling the Sleigh Next year as I really am hoping to have my act together and ornaments made for my Nerdmas Tree next year.

A canvas background

TheI have been a tad obsessed with Canva’s of late. In fact I am in the process of Making 4″x4″ ones for my 365 days of love for July.

This Background was created because I wanted to experiment with an Idea I had that I was not 100% sure would work.

I used 2 crafters choice stencils – one cogs and gears, the other clock faces.

Firstly I prepped the Canvas using Monte Marte Modeling Paste ( a budget crafters best friend as it can also be used like gesso,) Tip: Open the lid of the jar before you buy it and make sure your Modeling paste is smooth if it is chunky looking DO NOT BUY IT!

Then using a palette knife and the first stencil spread the Modeling paste over the stencil kind of like buttering toast (ie on a slight angle), you can also use an old credit or gift card to do this.

As this canvas is 12×12″ I used the stencil 4 times.

Allow the Modeling Paste to dry between layers.

I then played a bit with the clock face sencil. Adding it in different places and turning it around as I went. (using the same method as I did for the first stencil)

After it was all dry I then used my palette knife to add some smoothed out bits that I added texture to by bouncing the palette knife over them. I also flicked bits of modeling paste over the canvas as well.

Yep more drying.

Then something really fun. Misting in various colours (do not stress if some seem to bright as you can see by the background once you rub over the metallic distress stains the colour is toned right down)

I did use my heat gun to dry the mists when needed. I used a combo of Home Made, Tsukinedo Walnut ink spritz and smooch.

Then I put some of the Copper? Metallic stain on my craft sheet and using my fingers gently rubbed it over the canvas, then I followed that with the Pewter and that is where it is at Now.

Thinking this may end up being the background for a Dr Who themed Christmas Present.

Dr Who + Washi Tape = Tardis Card

Every Dr Who fan knows as a crafter there is very little out there in the way of ready to use Dr Who craft stuff.

Soooooooooooooooooooooo imagine the excitement when Clearsnap posted a blog in conjunction with Viva Las Vegas Stamps and gasp, excitement, woo hoo

there was a TARDIS STAMP!!!!

ok so a blue police box aherm. So we had to have it, My Sister, My friend and talented Scrapper Toni and I all got the Unmounted one so that we could all get it with post for $10.50 each. If we had got it with the cling or block mounted it would have shot the postage up.

I was so excited to get my stamp, also having found out the same day I missed my sisters Fiance’s birthday.

I have also been playing a lot with washi tape.

So of course I sat down and this card was born

The Washi Tape is from Sawyers Place
I also used a dark purple stickles glitter glue
Some Silver Embossing Powder
A fiskers Happy Birthday Stamp

and Distress inks in various blue shades from memory: Stormy Sky, broken china, salty ocean and blue jeans.

As well as a white gel pen.

Other than the Happy Birthday turning out a bit smudged looking I am quite chuffed at how my first use of this stamp turned out.
