March tags

Of Course this is inspired by Tim’s original Tag.

This month focused on 2 main things Smudge stamping a technique I really love to give a fuzzy worn look to images and things and the new craft spritzer.  Which I have yet to add to my stash.

I did two lots of tags for this month because I ruined the first set you know that gut wrenching feeling when you use a colour that is normally light and it goes on way to dark yep that happened.

Anyway I used a Hero Arts Burlap Background stamp in Picked Raspberry just for something a little different. Smudged (See Tims Blog post for the technique)

Then used the Compass and the butterfly stamp from my Tim Stamp Stash.

Also using the same technique.

I added a quote from Tim’s say it stamps and some tissue   tape and viola this months tag.

I rather like the pinkness of it as its something a little different for me.

A recent layout.

So as most of my friends know I have been industriously working on a Design Team entry for the last couple of weeks.

I love the products and range of the person whose DT it is even if their stuff is darn hard to get down under so I spent last year squirrilling away what I could and asking for some as Christmas Presents (sadly did not get)

anyway this layout I like but it felt like I was trying to hard to make it something it wasn’t it just did not flow. I think at some point I will go back and outline the chipboard letters just to make them pop a little more.

This is a photo of my youngest niece Tiana giving me a makeover on Christmas a couple of years ago.

I really like the flowers down the bottom they turned out cute and I do like the layout it just feels a little flat. As I said I was forcing it and trying to hard. Something I know from experience rarely works for me. I need to flow with my work and just play. The best of us forget this sometimes.

Anyway the layout:

More October Challenges Pendant

One of the Challenges for last month at Jellybeans was to use the colour pink.

I lucked out earlier in the year and got some amazingly cheap memory glass and memory glass frames.

So rather than a layout or a card I decided to create a pendant.

I love how it turned out and know exactly whose Christmas Stocking this will be going in.

So here it is. I used lots of bling, Pink Paisley Butterfly garden pp, and some glitter as well as the Ranger Memory Glass Products.

A wedding Card

I am so happy to be able to share this with you based on this prima tutorial with my own spin ( I don’t own plain circle dies so used scallops and also did my own thing  with the rest of the card)

I made this card for a friend who is getting married she is using lilac as one of her colours and it is a garden wedding so I wanted the card to match in with the theme a little.

I also have to admit I did not look at the tutorial again once I started. Though I am really happy with my take on the card 🙂 and the Bride to be loved it as well and that is the most important thing.

So here are the pics

12 Coasters July

You know the challenge I have been having with doing the coasters is they are 4″x4″ not a lot of room to work with however now that we are at the halfway mark I can see how my idea for the coasters is shaping up. I am sure by now your starting to get an inkling of what the finished 12 will be turned into given that I have been using the same colours for them all in various ways.

See T!m’s tag of the month here : July Tag

I loved the layering of this tag as well as the technique not having pressed air (although have been contemplating getting a mini air compressor as they are quite economical) I used a wide straw. For those Aussies reading this I emptied out a Sippah straw and used that.

For me I had fun building up layers and a little texture. Though the picture no where does the center scalloped circle justice in the sense you do not see all the layers . I then used some Kraft Core to make two larger scalloped circles and sanded them. Added in some glazed mini roses in victorian velvet and added them to a back that is layers of tissue paper stamped and painted over then inked around the edges. Stamped on my quote and embossed it. Viola Coaster of the Month.

I am really happy with how this one turned out.

A little Fairy Magic

Today I would like to share with you two Fairy Valentines cards I made over the weekend.

I used these rather Stunning Midnight Fairy Stamps (my sister showed me and at the time there was only one set left so when I saw them re listed on eBay I had to snag them)

Here is what they look like.

Now my first card I made with these is purely a flight of my own fancy. I started with the rainbow. Made using alcohol inks. A tip here if you try this put some old paper (from the recycling or copy paper) between your card layers as the ink will bleed through. I used a rainbow of colours. Did one line of each. Honestly just do a couple of small drops in the centre of your felt mine was a bit of overkill. Also add a little pearl Mixative over the top of your colours and a smidge of blending solution. Then just swipe it across your card in an arc to form your rainbow.

The fairies I hand coloured. Have totally fallen in love with the Smooch Pearl Accents as they are wonderful to add highlights to your fairies and also one of the colours in the set of 4 I have I am using as the blonde/gold fairy hair. I used matt multi medium to glue the fussy cut fairies where I wanted them and also to add the glitter to the rainbow and so it looks like it is cascading from the fairies hand. Hopefully the Little girl who this valentine is for will find it magical.

The second card I used a tutorial From Split coast stampers here is a link to the Tutorial.

The only things I did different was stamp a frame on Acetate, and placed the acetate over my stamp so I could see where to leave clear. I used some homemade blue glaze and a smidge of milled lavender re-inker. Also I put clear triple thick in the middle of the acetate where the fairy was going. That way I got an even glitter shimmer.

These last few days were a creative whirlwind. About 10 Cards, a couple of presents and a few assorted boxes. Some of which I cannot share as they are for presents and when they have arrived I will definitely share them then. My Martha Score board is getting a huge workout I think since I got it a week ago it has only had two days off!

Have to say I am very impressed with the Splitcoast Stampers Tutorials I am not only learning a lot but find them very simple and easy to follow. I can sometimes get confused easily so it is a joy to find a site that is not only friendly and fun but also I have no hesitation in recommending to others!

Happy Valentines Day fellow creative people.

Hope you used your creativity to spread a little love and joy today.
