12 Tags 2014 Edition

And gasp shock horror yes I know I am actually doing tags this year, though I also have an otp based on the same embossed foil tape technique as well to share in my next post.

As always ย Mr Holtz’s tag is awesome.

Though my Stash has grown considerably re his products I still do not have loads of the things he used.

My Foil tape is from a roll I got off ebay, the numbers are from the ‘Say it’ stamp set I got for chrissy, (though the siloutte is one of his remenant rubz) and my pocket watch is from the x cut dies Pocket watches set ๐Ÿ™‚

Of course I used diff quotes and chit chat words.

And some watch Parts however for the most part I used the same sorts of techniques. With the exception of the splatter and the stenciled background. My little dots are made with one of the Tim stamps I have.

Here it is My First Tag for 2014 ๐Ÿ˜€

And so the journey begins for another year. You may wonder why I don’t add loads of ribbon and bits to the tops of my tags, honestly I like a clean look and it just feels a bit messy and cluttered to me to do so.

12 Tags of 2013- August

It is that time again (where is this year flying to?

See The Original Tim Holtz Tags Here

And here is my take:

Other than Substituting Iced Spruce stain for the weathered wood and creating my own mask with cardstock and repositionable tape (something I learned from The Online Card Classes I took a while back).

I used the Air Travel Stamp Set as well as a Donna Salazar Stamp from my prize pack I won last year.

Along with frayed burlap stain, weathered wood ink, and some leftover letterpress ink on the brayer that made the funky black patterny marks.

Add in some tissue tape and some Alphabet stickers and that is pretty much this months pages ๐Ÿ™‚

12 Coasters November

Can you believe how fast this year has flown by? I know it is hard to believe that it was just nearly a year ago that I started this craft blog for the 12 tags of Christmas 2011 .

Then in Feb Mr Holtz delighted and surprised us all by announcing that he would be doing a tag a month and we could all play along to. What a wonderful journey it has been to learn new techniques, revisit old fav’s and to just stretch our creativity every month.

Next month is extra exciting because I will be able to reveal what all these coasters are going to become and I have to say I am rather excited by seeing all this years work come together.

This months tagย
features the lovely colours of Autumn and whilst I love that colour palette it is spring in Australia that and my distress stain range is limited to just half a dozen at present (stormy sky, chipped sapphire, broken china, dusty concord, worn lipstick, warm honey and frayed burlap) which lend itself to a far more spring version of the technique used.

I got a craft iron earlier in the year because of several techniques I was dying to be able to do and this was one of them.

This technique (Bear in mind my coasters are just 4″ square so no where near as much room as the tags used) also gave me a chance to use my new Boundless Flight stamps that were a birthday present from my Sister and nieces. I added in a stamping up stamp from a set I purchased some years ago and used snow cap distress stain as well as home made pearl mist, ranger embossing powder and versafine black onyx ink and here is this months Tag.

I did add in just one other technique learned from the amazing Jennifer Maguire in Stretch your stamps and it is a water droplet embossing one that I used to add a few more white spots to my coaster.

A wedding Card

I am so happy to be able to share this with you based on this prima tutorial with my own spin ( I don’t own plain circle dies so used scallops and also did my own thing ย with the rest of the card)

I made this card for a friend who is getting married she is using lilac as one of her colours and it is a garden wedding so I wanted the card to match in with the theme a little.

I also have to admit I did not look at the tutorial again once I started. Though I am really happy with my take on the card ๐Ÿ™‚ and the Bride to be loved it as well and that is the most important thing.

So here are the pics

A little bit of History Mini Albums Part 2

This next mini album was made at the start of 2010 and was a huge leap out of my comfort zone in terms of colour and style. I Believe I made this for the Kaiser DT call that year. I can certainly see how my photography has also improved a lot since then.

A Kaiser MDF Album with Kaiser Paper, and other assorted things and one of my all time most used set of stamps MSE Friendship quotes.

and last but not least a chipboard Mini Album I created last year after a break up. I am really proud of how this turned out even if it wasn’t the happiest of endings. Sometimes scrapping can be a form of therapy. There is a lot of pockets and such to add print outs of messages and such. Funny though I have yet to add them to the album. I may one day but then again maybe I wont shrugs.

A little Fairy Magic

Today I would like to share with you two Fairy Valentines cards I made over the weekend.

I used these rather Stunning Midnight Fairy Stamps (my sister showed me and at the time there was only one set left so when I saw them re listed on eBay I had to snag them)

Here is what they look like.

Now my first card I made with these is purely a flight of my own fancy. I started with the rainbow. Made using alcohol inks. A tip here if you try this put some old paper (from the recycling or copy paper) between your card layers as the ink will bleed through. I used a rainbow of colours. Did one line of each. Honestly just do a couple of small drops in the centre of your felt mine was a bit of overkill. Also add a little pearl Mixative over the top of your colours and a smidge of blending solution. Then just swipe it across your card in an arc to form your rainbow.

The fairies I hand coloured. Have totally fallen in love with the Smooch Pearl Accents as they are wonderful to add highlights to your fairies and also one of the colours in the set of 4 I have I am using as the blonde/gold fairy hair. I used matt multi medium to glue the fussy cut fairies where I wanted them and also to add the glitter to the rainbow and so it looks like it is cascading from the fairies hand. Hopefully the Little girl who this valentine is for will find it magical.

The second card I used a tutorial From Split coast stampers here is a link to the Tutorial.
ย  http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/acetate_tissue/

The only things I did different was stamp a frame on Acetate, and placed the acetate over my stamp so I could see where to leave clear. I used some homemade blue glaze and a smidge of milled lavender re-inker. Also I put clear triple thick in the middle of the acetate where the fairy was going. That way I got an even glitter shimmer.

These last few days were a creative whirlwind. About 10 Cards, a couple of presents and a few assorted boxes. Some of which I cannot share as they are for presents and when they have arrived I will definitely share them then. My Martha Score board is getting a huge workout I think since I got it a week ago it has only had two days off!

Have to say I am very impressed with the Splitcoast Stampers Tutorials I am not only learning a lot but find them very simple and easy to follow. I can sometimes get confused easily so it is a joy to find a site that is not only friendly and fun but also I have no hesitation in recommending to others!

Happy Valentines Day fellow creative people.

Hope you used your creativity to spread a little love and joy today.
