Another take on Tattered Florals

An idea popped into my head last night and would not leave.
Based on my very first blog tutorial here. Variagated recycled book flowers.

So here is the tutorial should you wish to watch the youtube video:

or if you preffer step by step instructions complete with pics go here

So being me and it being almost the 11th hour I had to try this with the tattered florals.

I had an ornament I never quite knew how I wanted to finish that I had experimented with clear gallery glass and pearl ex powder on the inside of.

I added some white paper twine around the top with some magic tape and a loop to hang the ornament.

Then used some glue dots to adhere the handmade scrunched tattered floral flowers around the outside of the glass bauble.

and from a slightly different angle

I had an idea when I was about to sort the flowers and dry them. I took out two pieces of white cs and placed the flowers over them. I misted the flowers and dabbed them off with paper towel pushing them down onto the cs

this is the results:

the best thing is I now have two pretty handmade background or even card bases and thus wasted less distress reinker ๐Ÿ™‚

Tattered Florals Challenge

I was so excited to see when Tim Holtz announced his Tattered Floral Challenge. I got the Die off my Sister for Christmas last year.

I had so many ideas go through my mind, another one of my pretty hair accessories, a bouquet, something to wear, the possibilities were only limited by imagination and resources.

As the entries started to pour in. I wanted something truly unique, something no one else would do.

A 4″ tall tattered floral Bear!

 photo TatteredfloralBear_zps04c2562e.jpg

Sooo the idea for a new flower bear was born. This one has the fabric hand coloured with Colour Washes (one stream mixed with mowed lawn distress re inker to make it a bit more green and stem/leaf like). The challenge was that I still can not find my mini bear joints and eyes no matter how much I search and search for them. So this bear is string jointed and the eyes are pearls covered in Stream Alcohol ink.

What I love about these bears is the fact that their bodies are like the stem of the flower with their little faces blossoming in the center of the flower.

To get the flower I stamped Tim’s Flutter ATC stamp over the fabric with Archivals Jet black. Then used some colour washes (stream, butterscotch, purple twilight and cranberry they sort of all melded together in the fabric I had) and added some fabric stiffner to the flower. I used one of the other flowers to create the leaves by misting with the leftover mix of stream colour wash and mowed lawn re-inker,

I also misted white pearl cotton with butterscotch to create the bears nose and mouth. The head is also misted in butterscotch.

I used Tim’s paper twine split in two to wrap around the bears legs to give a sort of viney roots look.
here are some more pics of The Tattered Floral Bear.

I love how quirky and funny this is. It was how I left the bear to dry overnight so the bottom leaves would stick and not fall off

and a couple in a wee flowerpot I have with a colour wash next to her to show you just how teeny she really is:

A very Special Engagement Card

My Sister and her Boyfriend got engaged recently. So being me I of course wanted to be the first to make them a card.

There was a great challenge at Jellybeans last month to create a card using layers and circles, something I am not very good at so it was quite a challenge for me even more so as my bug is dying and only cuts on one side so every circle had to be cut twice to actually work.

It is no secret that my sisters favorite colour is purple so I pulled out a couple of sheets of paper from the meddow lark paper pad. And started to play.

It took me a while to get it to all work together and I ended up using the leftovers to create the heart and circle on the front (the triple thick seems to have made the paper pinker than it actually is in the center)

I really love how the mulberry butterfly almost looks pressed in this.

and here it is my sisters engagement card (though the layers show up stronger in person as there is mounting tape between each one)

A Different sort of Valentines Card

This card was a great challenge from Ann on Jellybean Scrappers. It was to create a card with embossing and metal on it.

 photo annjan.jpg

The most time consuming part other than trying to get the pewter stain into all the nooks and crannys (TIP stain first then emboss) was glittering the crack. Glue Gloss and a bit of patience are required.

Then it was a sizzix heart die cut out of black cs covered in copper tape and a wee quickutz cupid and viola a card ๐Ÿ™‚

A steampunk Halloween Box

Yes another Cybercrop Challenge. This we 2″ square box was my starting point it was a halloween themed mini otp challenge

I created this box and made a flower using Donna Salazar’s Rose Creations Dies (yep one of my fav things to enter my stash this year)

Then after I had embossed the box and added the flower and watch parts I had an idea how awesome would a flower look with watch parts in its center so that is what I did. I have to say I love how this turned out though embossing the box was the hardest part.

Here are two views of my Steampunk Halloween Box

Recipe Folder CC Challenge

We had an awesome Cybercrop at Jellybean Scrappers for Halloween. One of the challenges was to create a recipe folder, as I had no folder I created my own so that I could add my own recipes to it.

The big cupcakes on the cover are something I have been working on in a smaller size and range of colours for my etsy store.

For this I used Black CS base, Kaiser Bonjour Papers, Florrists tape in pink and white, Corrugated card, Kaiser coconut roses, Some provocraft alphabet stickers ย and little bug alpha rub ons (I think), some bling flourishes picked up at my local cheapie shop, and some glitter that reminds me of the glitter sprinkles you get for cake decorating oh and some alcohol inked diamond dust. I also inked the flowers in Picked Raspberry misted with water dried and repeated the water till I got the whole icecream type effect then misted over the top with home made pearl mist.

Soo here it is
