Febuary/March 365 Days Of Love Project Boxes

Hi All

I am sharing this on both this blog and my musings blog because well it really does fit both.

My project for this year started as 365 Love letters to strangers and has evolved into what I now call 365 days of Love. I did not want to give up on the project for lack of things to write about or to feel pressured to come up with stuff all the time so I have evolved the project to include random acts of art and craft and well to just be whatever I need it to be on the day as such.

So for feb and march I created a wee box of Love, with everything from a Little album, mini paper bag of bath salts to a handmade heart cushion hangy thing.

Anyway here is the finished box:

the box before it was wrapped with a good view of the Heart cushions that were hand cut out, hand sewn and hand stuffed actually the 23 of these took me a rather long time to complete and I am sure between them and the other things I made more than warrent 2 months project time.

the 2″ square boxes I made from scratch:

the 1″ Paper Bags made from one of My fav MFT Dies

The Love albums that I had to fight with my cuttlebug to cut out (both the letters and album are quickutz)

The boxes ready to be wrapped:

and all finished with a Tim Holtz butterfly die cut and a pretty mulberry rosebud

They also include a turkish delight easter egg as its easter, and some have a small turquoise heart bead in them.

It was a lot of work to get these done, when I thought oooh a box of love for valentines day I had no idea it would take me so long to get them done.

I have to say though that I am really happy they are now complete just have to print a little label for them to say what they are about and give them away 🙂

12 Coasters July

You know the challenge I have been having with doing the coasters is they are 4″x4″ not a lot of room to work with however now that we are at the halfway mark I can see how my idea for the coasters is shaping up. I am sure by now your starting to get an inkling of what the finished 12 will be turned into given that I have been using the same colours for them all in various ways.

See T!m’s tag of the month here : July Tag

I loved the layering of this tag as well as the technique not having pressed air (although have been contemplating getting a mini air compressor as they are quite economical) I used a wide straw. For those Aussies reading this I emptied out a Sippah straw and used that.

For me I had fun building up layers and a little texture. Though the picture no where does the center scalloped circle justice in the sense you do not see all the layers . I then used some Kraft Core to make two larger scalloped circles and sanded them. Added in some glazed mini roses in victorian velvet and added them to a back that is layers of tissue paper stamped and painted over then inked around the edges. Stamped on my quote and embossed it. Viola Coaster of the Month.

I am really happy with how this one turned out.

Hand Dyed Recycled Flowers

Hi and welcome back to Heavenly Craftings today’s tutorial is a very simple Child friendly one.

You only need a few Materials and the results will amaze you. This is a great way to recycle old books that are just lying around. Great for both the environmentally conscious crafter and the budget crafter.

Some flowers made using the end product of this technique

So let’s get to it.

Materials:

Flower Dies

An old romance novel

A die cutting machine

Assorted Distress Re-Inkers

A plate or shallow container

A water mister

How to:Photobucket  Tear out your book pages into sets of 8 pages (you will only need about 6 sets to make plenty of flowers.

Photobucket2.       Choose your flower dies and arrange them onto your die cutting machine plate

Arrange as many as you can and then cover with the book paper and cut them out. Do this until you have a nice pile of flowers

Photobucket

Mist your container until rivulets form
Photobucket

Drop in a few drops of each colour of Re-inker into your container
Photobucket

Mist your container over the re inkers until the drops start to bleed into each other.
Photobucket

Scatter your flowers over the ink until you have a thick layer of flowers and cannot see any ink
Photobucket

Mist the flowers until they are all well dampened
Photobucket

Push down on the flowers to allow them to absorb all the ink.

Allow them to soak up the ink for a few minute

Turn the flowers over and mist them generously again

Push down on the flowers

Take your flowers and separate them onto your craft mat. You can leave some in clumps of a flower type.

Allow to dry  overnight or place in small batches in a box and dry with your heat gun

These make great rolled roses, scrunched flowers or individual blossoms.

Now for the give away! There is a bag of Mixed Dyed Blossoms ready for you to make your own flowers ( a combination of the ones Tiana made on youtube and others I have made using this technique) Just comment on this post for your chance to win

Secondly there is a Bag of Undyed flowers up for grabs simply follow this blog and go into the draw

I will leave this open till just after New Year 🙂
